Team Associated's Kyle LeDuc Doubles Up in his Pro-4!

The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series made its way back the Wild West Motorsports Park in Sparks, NV for Rounds 11 and 12. Located just minutes outside of Reno, Lucas Oil carved a unique track into the side of a mountain that combines high speeds, huge jumps, and elevation changes.

Lucas Oil shortened the race program this time around by removing Junior-1 and Junior-2 karts, and making the Mod Kart class the first race of the feature. The Team Associated backed #555, started on the front row with fill in driver. Gavin suffered a broken foot prior to the race, which would not allow him to race. When the green dropped, the #555 was passed on the first turn by Cole Mamer, who looked like he was shot out of a cannon. Cole led the first lap, but it didn't last too long. the Team Associated #555 would regain the lead and push on to take the win and set the pace for the rest of the day's racing.

Pro-4 next on track and after the qualifying inversion, Todd LeDuc started out front next to Greg Adler, both of whom have shown great speed in past races, but have come into a bit of tough luck. Todd took the green and ran out to a good size lead, but it was taken away after the caution was thrown out for debris on the track. When the race was restarted, Todd jumped back out front and held off the rest of the field until Team Associated's Eric Barron and Greg Adler got together at the top of the hill, causing Alder to flip and bringing out yet another caution. Both trucks were able to continue, but were no longer in competition after having to go to the pits to fix damage. The final couple of laps were a battle as Todd and his brother Kyle LeDuc, along with Carl Renezeder, who had worked his way from the back after being caught in an incident earlier in the race. Todd suffered his bad luck again and slowed with a mechanical issue, which handed the lead to Kyle, who gapped himself from Carl and took home his second win of the season.

Pro-2 would end the day, and with the class growing in size, new comers are looking to see how they stack up against the crafty veterans. Brian Deegan led the pack to the green followed by Bryce Menzies, Robby Woods and Carl Renezeder. Five laps into the race, the caution came out for debris on the track, and no changes were made in the top 4. On the restart Robby Woods was able to get by Bryce and into the second spot, but Brian Deegan kept a gap on Woods and would eventually go on to win. Robby Woods held onto the second spot, and his third podium in as many races, with Bryce Menzies rounding out the podium in the third spot.

Sunday's racing would not disappoint as many of the drivers were looking to either redeem themselves or continue to move forward and grasp as many of the valued points as they could. When the Pro-4s took to the track, Carl Renezeder and Greg Adler lead the field to the green flag. Carl jumped out to an early lead in front of Adler and the LeDuc brothers. Mechanical issues would again plague Todd as his truck died at the top of turn one casing a pile which would reshuffle almost the entire field. Carl led and was followed by Kyle LeDuc, who was looking at continuing his winning ways and claiming a weekend sweep. Carl and Kyle battled hard for several laps, until Kyle got a good run going up the back hill and into turn five and made the pass stick. Carl, who is not one to back down, threw it back onto Kyle, but could not make the pass back. Kyle ran out front the rest of the race and grabbed his third win of the year and completed the weekend sweep. Carl held on to the second spot and the Pro-4 points lead heading into the final 3 rounds.

For rounds 13 and 14, the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series will be heading back out to Las Vegas Motor Speedway on September 20^th and 21^st to run under the lights for the second night race of the season.
