Bryce Menzies drives the Team Associated/RC10.COM truck under the lights in Lake Elsinore for rounds 7 & 8 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series!

Rounds 7 & 8 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) took place again at the Lake Elsinore Motorsports Complex in Southern California. Rounds 5 & 6 saw Lake Elsinore transformed into a world class short course racing venue, and for rounds 7 & 8 it got even better as they ran the races at night under the lights. So not only did you get the added benefit of cooler temperatures under the stars, you also got to see all the action at night which always looks awesome.

This was a particularly exciting weekend for the AE crew, as Bryce Menzies debuted Team Associated/RC10.COM Unlimited-4 truck. Pitting in the Coyne Motor Sports camp, Travis brought Bryce into drive the truck that was modeled after the Team Associated/RC10.COM SC8 truck. Bryce has been charging very hard in his Super Clean Unlimited-2 and is already showing a lot of strong promise in the U-4 after taking 4th place the first time out in the truck.

Team Associated was there with their trailer and big booth area filled with a wide array of products and demo track. We had a few new faces this time around in the celebrity races. Mike Johnson who drives the KMC Wheels #31 U-2 filled in for Alan Pflueger, driving his K&N Filters U-4 and his SC10. We also had Robbie Woods driver of the Lucas Oil #99 U-2 truck, showing us the fast way around the track with his SC10. These guys were mixing it up with the AE celebrity race regulars Travis Coyne, Rob 'Fig' Naughton and now Bryce Menzies. The dicing got pretty heavy all these guys on the track. You can really see these guys improving their R/C racing skills now that they have been getting some wheel time in. Proof positive that practice works!

LOORRS round 7, Lake Elsinore, CA
Saturday round 7 got off to a good start with Team Associated/RC10.COM drivers Jack Grabowski and Sheldon Creed taking 2nd and 3rd in Jr. Kart 1. In Jr. Kart 2 Dustin Grabowski came in 3rd and in Modified Kart it was Sheldon Creed again taking 2nd place.

In the Unlimited Lite class it was the man to beat, Rob 'Fig' Naughton taking the checkered flag, followed by Freestyle MX legend Brian Deegan with only 0.268 second gap. We'll take the win but that was close! Chris Brandt rounds out the field taking third place honors.

The Unlimited 2 class is always a very competitive class and rounds 7 & 8 would see the already tight competition ramp up with the arrival of the LeDuc Motor Sports crew. Showing up paid off big for Todd LeDuc, as he was there to take the lead from Carl Renezeder as he lost a rear tire on the last lap and try as he might, could not hold on. Todd LeDuc takes first place, Carl second and we were all happy to see Rodrigo Ampudia back in his truck taking third place after tearing both ends off his U-2 in round 5.

In Unlimited 4 it was another big win for the LeDuc crew. This time it was Kyle LeDuc taking the checkered flag. Hollywood stuntman Mike Johnson filled in for Alan Pflueger and did a commendable job of driving the K&N Filters truck into second place. Tim Herbst drove it like he stole it and took third place while he was at it.

LOORRS round 8, Lake Elsinore, CA
In the Jr. Kart 1 class it was Jack Grabowski's time to shine as he took the checkered flag with Sheldon Creed coming in second. In Jr. Kart 2 Dustin Grabowski came in 3rd and in Modified Kart it was Sheldon Creed who crossed the finish line first to take the win.

Round 8 Unlimited Lite saw Rob 'Fig' Naughton's luck take a turn for the worse as he fell out after nine laps due to mechanical problems. With the 'Fig' out of the way it was Chris Bradnt, Brian Deegan and Chuck Dempsy finishing first, second and third respectively.

The Unlimited 2 class was a very exciting race that sadly ended in heartbreak for Bryce Menzies. Bryce was leading the race in his Super Clean U-2 and appeared to be walking away with it with a brutally hard charge. However, unfortunately in the last lap his luck would change as he spun out letting Todd LeDuc and Carl Renezeder by to take first and second place away. Bryce recovered to keep third place but he had all but won this race. Bryce is young and has a lot of racing in front of him and you will surely see him on the top of many podiums to come.

Unlimited 4 again saw Kyle LeDuc take the win with Tim Herbst taking second and Mike Johnson taking third, again filling the seat for Alan Pflueger. Bryce Menzies drove the Team Associated/RC10.COM truck all the way into fourth place after his second attempt. Once Bryce has the feel for the 4WD truck he will be a force to be reckoned with. Both Carl Renezeder and Travis Coyne retire early due to mechanical problems, as it turns out to be a great weekend for the LeDucs.

Once again it was another great weekend of intense off road action under the lights of Lake Elsinore! Be sure not to miss the next Lucas Off Road Racing Series event in Surprise, Arizona on the 17th & 18th of October. Team Associated will be there in all the racing action that you surely won't want to miss! For more information about the Lucas Oil Off Road Series, check out: www.lucasoiloffroad.com.
