Young gun and AE/Reedy driver Logan Pilcher was able to take his new Team Associated TC8 on the road for the first time this weekend to the Jim Dieter Legends Classic. Thanks to the industry famous Jim Dieter for hosting this event (formally the Legends Shootout). The race was also called by the great Scotty Ernest. From practice day the base set up was close on the high-speed track. Grip was lower to start but quickly came up as more cars took to the track on Friday with Logan finding his rhythm and ended up fastest on the day.
We made a few changes including adding rear toe gain going from the 2mm to 4mm when building for the growingly competitive USVTA class to 6mm during the day to add the rear stability mid corner out. One additional change was testing several top decks from the factory 2.5mm and the G10 2.0mm top decks to the Mad Wurks 2.0mm and 2.2mm top decks. The 2.2mm proved to be the way to go on the weekend as the grip increased. Saturday was qualifying day with 3 rounds in store. Early on Logan was seeded 3rd via the random sort. Early on he was able to show the raw speed in the TC8 powered by Reedy products and set the early TQ. Rounds 2 and 3 were much of the same as the other drivers found speed but the TC8 was able to also find more grip and more speed as well.
Sunday rolling into the day saw the LCQ on tap to start the morning early whereas in the past 3 rounds Logan was able to reset his own TQ by several seconds. The full A main field saw diversity in manufactures gunning for the VTA championship at this prestigious event. Scotty even was quick to call out Logan was the only TC8 at the event but was dominant on the day leading all 5 minutes of the main event to win by a full lap over Howard Lo and Jim Oliva. At the end of the day the new Associated TC8 was no match for the competition.
