Zac Ryan Wins 2006 NSW Off Road Champs

Thursday
Controlled practice started on Thursday and by the afternoon the track had already showed an increasing blue groove line. I went to two pistons and silver springs in the rear, which helped the car accelerate hard out of the high-bite corners. The car felt very predictable but wasn't jumping as well as I would like. It was simply due to my low ride height in the front end, so I put in a couple of spacers to get the arms back up to level and it was instantly better.

Friday
With the prediction of rain for Saturday and Sunday we voted on running all four rounds of qualifying on the Friday just in case the track was too wet to run the finals. With the four rounds run we could declare the champion on the qualifying positions. I managed to win all four qualifiers to take the TQ spot!

Saturday
It poured rain all Friday night and the track was extremely wet and racing was called off.

Sunday
The track was still very wet but it wasn't raining so they decided to run the finals. By the time the A main came around it was late afternoon and the track came up surprisingly well. The buzzer went off and the 1:10 stadium truck final was underway. I managed to get away cleanly and settled myself into a very good rhythm. By the 15-minute mark I had a lap up on the field, which was a very handy 48-second lead. I finished the final three laps up with no problems and a very comfortable win. That was my last race with the RC10GT as I am now eagerly waiting on the GT2 which advances on this already-proven truck!

Special thanks to Zac Ryan for this report.
